Biography

Heath Brown is an Australian composer specialising in music for film. Heath studied composition at the Tasmanian Conservatorium of Music from 2005 to 2008 with Professor Douglas Knehans as well as Constantine Koukias and Don Kay. He concurrently studied for a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Philosophy. During this time he was awarded admission to the Dean’s List of Excellence and the Advanced Honours Program.

He has provided original scores for numerous film projects including Stripped Bare (Lucien Simon), Dish Communication (Shaun Wilson), Slashed (Rebecca Thomson) and the multi award winning feature film, El Monstro Del Mar! (Stuart Simpson). His film work has appeared throughout the world at countless festivals  and has been nominated for/recieved a number of awards (inc. Flickerfest, BIFF, St Kilda FF). Heath's work ranges across drama (all genres), documentary and animation. He has also provided incidental music for a number of stage productions, notably for Terrapin Puppet Theatre and Tasmanian Theatre Company, and has composed music for television and radio commercials.

In addition to extensive performance experience and a tertiary education in classical composition, Heath is highly skilled in digital audio production, a skill he uses not only to record and produce his own music, but also to produce high quality, creative sound designs ranging from detailed realistic sound effects to the invention of unusual and idiosyncratic aural spaces. Heath is committed to writing and producing high quality music and sound that is original and compelling, whether it be for screen, stage or the concert hall.
