Tarreleah Performing Arts Residency

I had the amazing opportunity to attend this event this year. Facilitated by Tasmania Performs, it's an opportunity to take an idea away with a bunch of fellow artists and kick it around, see what comes of it. I went with lighting and AV designer Jason James and actor/puppeteer Bryony Geeves as a team with a loose concept for a design-heavy puppetry project.

It was fascinating to be exposed to the ideas of all of the other teams and individuals and get an insight into how other people go about developing work. We had a series of mentoring and work-shopping sessions with performance makers from around the country, followed by equally valuable dinner and pub sessions that allowed us to talk stuff through at length and find ouyt more about what other people are up to.

Huge props to the amazing Annette Downs and Jen Cramer for their work in managing the event, which ran as smoothly as you like.

Guest blog post for No Film School

I recently contributed an article to No Film School. I'm always up for talking film music, particularly with filmmakers. I remember reading about how little time is spent on the subject in most film schools, which seems crazy to me given how much a score will inform how your audience receives your film (I may be a bit biased on that one....)

Anyway, here's the link to 5 Ways to Ruin Your Film With Music. It sounds like I'll be contributing a few more articles as time allows. I'll keep posting the links here, and compile a list of links on my press page.
